Migrate to Windows 10 Pro

Windows 10 has been around for several years now, and as with its previous versions of in-between releases, I've held off migrating to this newer operating system right away. It took me ten years to move to Windows 7 from Windows XP (skipping Vista), and then seven years from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (skipping Windows 8). The move was brought on not by choice but by chance. How? The story goes this way.

Since the pandemic has forced students to study from home using learning modules and online conferencing, buying another computer was necessary so that my youngest, Issa, will not have to share computers with big brother Paolo. They were fine sharing the second PC we had at first, but as their lessons progressed, more and more time was being dedicated to conferencing. Which meant, only one of them would be able to do so on the PC if they had classes at the same time.

So I bought another computer, one that's meant for me to use. The one I was currently using passed on to Issa. I also bought her a monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard, and an HD camera. The computer I bought is also a proprietary rig from HP and it already had Windows 10 Pro installed and activated on it. I was ready to format and install Windows 7 on it as most of the apps I use are already tried and tested on that platform, but I gave it a whirl for a day. The apps I use installed with no problem, so work won't be affected. And as a few more days went by, I've warmed up to the new operating system. There's not much of a change if you ask me. Apart from the goofy tablet mode, the whole thing's just the same dog with a different collar.
