What this post is about is Kitkat's ball gown for the prom. She and her mom had already scoured the rental shops for a gown to her liking. To their dismay, most of the really pretty ones were already spoken for... reserved months in advance. Leaving her with poor choices that did not strike her fancy. Time was running out, and so were our finances. It would be days after the event before I could give her extra money for an emergency rental of gowns so exorbitantly priced. It would be unreasonable to spend so much on renting a gown for just one night. It would seem we were stuck and chances were, things would go the way of Asiong Aksaya (a comic character known for spending unreasonably).
Then out of nowhere, Minda decided to rummage through sealed clothes in the closet. And found Mimi's (Kitkat's aunt) bride's maid's dress. Mimi wore this on our wedding as you can see pictured with her niece Kitkat. This was a straight, full length, purple evening dress that Mimi and mom bought for the wedding. I suggested that they have it altered into a ball gown. All they needed was gown material to make the skirt part billow and have body. Minda spent less than 1000 pesos for the gown's fabric and seamstress' labor to transform the dress into what's pictured below.
