We used to have separate washers and spin dryers back in the day when we had a laundry business (we actually went through a couple of them). Separate because back then, there were no twin tub machines being sold. Now they're very common. It's better since stand alone spin dryers often go wild when the load is uneven. Having the dryer in a twin tub helps stabilize the spinner, especially if the wash tub has a load.
I was partial to the Sharp twin tub when we were scouting for a new washer because the last one did very well as far as I'm concerned. But the load capacities did not differ much to the old one we had. The larger capacity tubs on the other hand, were out of our price range. The American Home and Fujidenzo brands were more to our budget, and it satisfied our needs... larger capacity, spin dryer, all plastic cabinet. However, the salesman kept interjecting the fact that those brands consume more electricity than the others. I thought to myself, that's just the salesman in him trying to close a sale for the brand he gets a commission on. And besides, we wash clothes only on Saturdays, so there won't be any noticeable jump in electric consumption. More so now, since we're cutting down on the number of loads. We went with the American Home 6 kilo twin tub.
