Kitkat has done it again! Grabbing highest honors among the third year students in the recently held Recognition Ceremonies of Doane Christian Academy Foundation, and her mom and I could not be any prouder. She's done her part and more to deserve it in my opinion. Often I'd remind her not to come home too late after school. But school activities do tend to keep her there often after dismissal.
Kitkat's been everywhere this past school year. Attending every function the school came up with from parties, to field trips, to camping, etc. She's participated in activities and competitions than in the past schools years she's been in DCAF. Among her awards were a medal from CSAG (Christian School Athletic Games), ribbons for Most Diligent, Best in Art, and Most Responsible. I'd say, organizing the Junior/ Senior prom will definitely merit that award.
But the best one is coming in first. This is the third straight year that she's brought home highest honors, and to celebrate, we planned to go and treat the kids to eat out and buy them some stuff. Kitkat wanted some new clothes, Paolo was undecided, and Issa wanted a bike! I kidded her about getting a pink one, knowing she doesn't like girly colors, all to get a rise from her. I was thinking along the lines of a junior BMX. Something that would not cost more than P1,500.00, but to my surprise, she's already picked a mini mountain bike and in bright red. That would fetch like double of what I had planned to spend on. It's not too late though, I could still convince her to share with her Kuya... maybe Paolo would go along.
I'm splurging on the kids a little to make up for the salary delays that often coincided with important events. I even had to borrow money for fare to attend her recognition, just because payment delays are always inevitable with my line of work. Thank goodness there are kindhearted people who understand how important things like these are parents and to kids... even though they don't realize it yet.
